Eco Council

We participate in Living Streets WOW campaign!

Hindley Green C.P Primary's Eco Council is led by Miss M. Colwill  and Mrs A. Bennett (Year 1 and 2 Classteachers) and is made up of pupils across the school  (See members below). There are also a variety of staff members who help us to achieve our Eco goals.

The Eco council meet on a regular basis to discuss Eco issues and plan future Eco events. There is a suggestion box which allows children to write down any ideas and suggestions and these are then discussed at our meetings and implemented / arranged where possible.

Across the school we try to recycle and save energy as much as possible. These efforts are monitored by our Eco council who award the most Eco friendly classroom each week with a green (and sometimes gold) award. Remember to send in your old batteries for recycling.

We are also encouraging all children throughout the school to start walking, cycling or scooting to school to help reduce pollution and keep our bodies and minds fit and healthy.

Everyone at Hindley Green Community Primary are very proud and excited to be a Green Flag Eco School!

We are working very hard to protect our planet now by caring for our school and local community.

We have been lucky to have a beautiful memorial garden where we have planted flowers, fruits and vegetables. We also ensure our school and community remains litter free and care for and maintain local wildlife habitats. More recently we have considered how we are able to reduce our own carbon footprint by monitoring how much electricity and water we actually use compared to how much we really need.

Everyone at Hindley Green have an exciting year ahead of us as we hope to achieve our Eco Schools Green Flag status for the fourth time in 2020.
