Welcome to Year 2F

Autumn term 2

This term our topic is "what should we wear?"

We will be looking at different types of weather, seasons and the clothes that people wear in different climates. We will be using our design skills to create some bin bag fashion and then we will have a fashion show!

We will also be practising for our Christmas production - Whoops a daisy angel.

Our trip this term is to Chester zoo! We can't wait to go and see all of the different animals and find out how big an elephant is.

Y2F information

We have 30 amazing members in our class and our teacher is Mrs Fairhurst.

Year 2 is a great year and as you know we will end the year with the Government statuary requirement SAT’s tests. Although important, the assessment process that is determined at the end of the year is not solely focused upon the Reading and Maths tests. Teacher assessment is the most important part of the end of year judgements of each child. Our year will be full of fun, excitement and learning.

What we have been up to so far....

Daily Routine

Our school day starts at 8:45am.

In order to gain further independence we encourage children to come into class on their own and remember to hand in any planners, homework books, notes or snack money.

Snack money is 50p for the week. This will provide the children with a piece of toast for Mon-Fri. Children will also have the opportunity to eat a piece of fruit during afternoon break.

Our morning break is at 10.15 am, lunch time is 11.45 am until 1pm and afternoon break is 2.00 pm.

We have daily English and Maths sessions, including guided reading and phonics. We implement a creative curriculum throughout the week which includes Art, DT and computing. We also learn about history, geography, science and RE. We have PE and music each week which is taught by specialist teachers.

Roald Dahl Day

13th September 2017

Roald Dahl

Before we start our official topics we will be celebrating reading as a school for the first two weeks of our term due to the upcoming birthday of Roald Dahl. Collectively the school year groups have chosen a Roald Dahl story to focus upon in class. Year 2’s chosen book is ‘The Enormous Crocodile.’

DID YOU KNOW: Roald Dahl’s birthday is the 13thSeptember and he would have been 101 years old if he was alive today?

We are going to celebrate his birthday on the 13th by coming to school in fancy dress. I can't wait to see all of the costumes.

Welcome to year 2
